Memorial Deteriorating, Donations Needed
Memorial Deteriorating, Donations Needed
Greetings Friends and Fellow Firefighters,

First, we would like to thank you for your tremendous support over the past years. Because of
your commitment and involvement, the Memorial Committe has been able to continue the
restoration and maintenance of the beautiful Fallen Firefighter and 911 Memorial at the
Connecticut Fire Academy.
The challenge is there are many other agencies and individuals we need to hear from. We need
funding to complete the upgrades, finish the restoration projects, and ongoing support to
maintain the highest level of care and maintenance. In the tradition of the firefighter brother and
sisterhood, we need a continued support from the masses to properly maintain the memory of our
fallen brethren.
This year we will be adding 4 names to the Memorial:
Joseph J. Gross Sr. North Stonington 01/01/2024
James Chevalier Stamford 09/01/2023
Anthony DeSimone North Haven 08/24/2023
Louis L. Peters Willimantic 01/26/1039
We know you and your organization understand the importance of remembering Connecticut's
352 fallen firefighters along with their families they have left behind. Therefore, to raise the
standard of celebrating their lives honorably, this year's memorial honors dinner will be held on
Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington, Connecticut. The event
begins at 6:00 P.M. with a cash bar, program promptly starting at 7:00 P.M. with dinner to
follow at 7:30 P.M. This year's speaker is Commissioner/Chief Mike Lombardo, Buffalo Fire
Department.

To plan this special occasion, enclosed is an announcement and reservation form. Also note we
are a 501-C-3 organization, and your donation may be tax deductible. Please return the
reservation form and your payment by October 28th. Hope to see you on November 7, 2024!

Sincerely,

Annual Ceremony Honors Line of Duty Deaths
Once every year, usually in September, the Connecticut State Firefighters Memorial Foundation holds its Annual Firefighters Memorial Service to honor Connecticut firefighters, past and present. The event takes place at the Firefighter's Memorial at the Connecticut Fire Academy in Windsor Locks. Each year, the names of more firefighters who have perished in the line of duty are added to the names already inscribed on granite tablets around the base of the Memorial.
The ceremony is always open to the public.
